THIS IS WHERE THE FUN BEGINS...
LET'S MAKE A PLAN TOGETHER AND BRING YOUR FLOWERY VISION TO LIFE.
Every happy couple is unique, from the story of how they met to their future plans and dreams.
Their ideas for flowers, colours and designs will be unique too, and that is where we come in. No two weddings of ours are ever the same and this keeps our work innovative, exciting and personal to you.
But it's not all butterflies and roses.... For many couples, initial budgeting for their wedding flowers can feel pretty vague, working towards a mysterious number plucked from the air.
How much do flowers cost? How many do I need?
Of course the answers are different for every celebration but my hope here is to demystify things somewhat and give you a broad idea of pricing so you can at least formulate an accurate initial figure for your budget.
As an industry guide, the average floral spend is about 15% of the overall wedding cost. To save you grabbing a calculator, that is just over £3000 of the typical UK wedding cost of £21,000 (in 2024).
Obviously, there are those that spend far less (perhaps not requiring venue flowers) and those with a more far-reaching budget that brings many exciting decorative opportunities.
At West Dorset Wedding Flowers we try to be as flexible as we can and aim to cater for all clients where possible. We currently require a minimum investment of £1000 (excluding set-up/delivery charges etc) for most peak dates. However, if your budget falls below this level please do get in touch as we are a large, experienced team and may still be able to accommodate your event. Finally, if you are planning your event on a shoe-string, you should seriously consider our 'To Have and To Hold' - the ultimate no-frills, no-fuss package.
Once the wedding date is reserved, a detailed consultation with Jessie will follow, after which you will receive a bespoke itemised quotation to take your booking forward.

VENUE FLOWERS
Where to even START when decorating a ceremony or reception? The options and design potential are limitless, and we appreciate that the cost can be too.
The key is to prioritise the places where you and your guests will spend the most time, where most of the photos will be taken, and – most importantly – where you will enjoy and remember them.
Here we have listed prices for our signature designs and more popular displays with suggestions of where they may best be used.
During your consultation we will discuss what ideas and designs you have in mind to suit the spaces and can then quote you for each one accordingly.
For the aisle:
Posies to tie to chairs or pews:
Foliage only from £24 each
Flowers with foliage from £38 each
Meadows to line the aisle, from £85 per seat-width (narrow), or from £150 per seat-and-row (wide)
A Floral Spray
For an altar, top-table, church windowsill or mantelpiece:
– from £150 (2ft long) plus £75 per extra ft length
These are opulent long-and-low designs that would also usually cascade over the front of the top table or windowsill for maximum effect. This price is for a low-rise design. For added mid-range height, add £20 per foot.
A Floral Runner
For long dining tables:
– from £120 (2ft long) plus £60 per extra ft length
These are narrower linear designs, allowing them to fit down the centre of tables when guests are seated both sides. They could also be used along the front of a top table but would give a neater visual impact than our floral sprays.
A front-facing display
For a porch, tall window alcove, to fill an empty corner or to frame a doorway if used as a pair: – from £220 each, large from £350
This type of arrangement has height and is designed to be viewed from the front only, and could be combined with a pedestal stand, urn & plinth or milk-churn.
An all-round display
For a table, bar or other central position where it will be seen from all sides – from £320 each, large from £480
This design is ideal when it will be central to a space and viewed from every angle. Again it has height to it, could be combined with an urn and plinth for example, and would create a showstopping centrepiece.
For your dining tables:
Jam jars or bottles brimming with blooms – from £28 each
These work best in groups of multiple vessels with varying heights (rather than used singly) particularly down the centre of long tables.
Hand-tied bouquets - just hydrangeas from £65 each, luxury mixed blooms from £85 each
These are suited to a short vase and kept low to sit below guests' eyelines. They are perfect when used alone in the centre of circular dining tables.
Rose bowl designs – from £110
Perhaps more elegant than a bouquet in a vase, these designs are made in a footed container and give a truly classic finish.
Floral ring – from £85 for a 12" diameter base
This could surround a candle or hurricane vase to add intimacy and atmosphere.
Tall bouquets in elegant vases - from £85 each
Slender and elegant, these are the most cost-effective way to add height to your tables without blowing the budget.
High table arrangements – from £220+ each
Usually placed atop a tall stand to allow guests to chat below the flowers, these are the epitome of dining-room drama.
______________________________________
If you would like to hire urns, plinths, vases, jam jars, bottles or any other containers for the above designs, these are charged additionally but prices start from just £1.50.
We can also supply wood-slices, tea-lights, candlesticks, lanterns and many other pretty miscellanea for your tables.
Please visit our 'Something Borrowed' hire range to view the full selection.
table foliage
We are often asked to decorate long tables with loose greenery simply laid along the centre. This is non-hydrated, so is put in place on the wedding morning and will last the day. We would always recommend using apothecary vases and elegant dinner candles interspersed as well to add colour, height and interest.
| Hung-grown Ivy (variegated or non-variegated) | £42 per 6ft trestle table |
| Mixed greenery (see note below) | £58 per 6ft trestle table |
| Eucalyptus only | £75 per 6ft trestle table |
Note that we source our mixed greenery by working alongside what is available seasonally, so it could include varieties such as beech, birch, and other native Dorset species as well as more commercially grown types such as eucalyptus, ruscus and ivy for example.
Foliage swags
These are hand-bound garlands of greenery which can be tied to an archway, staircase banister, or simply laid along the centre of trestle tables for a denser look than the option above.
| Strung ivy only | from £10/ft (£60 per 6ft trestle table) |
| Mixed greenery | from £25/ft (£150 per 6ft trestle table) |
| Eucalyptus only | from £32/ft (from £192 per 6ft trestle table) |
| To add wired flowers to these swags: | |
| Lightweight filler (i.e. - gypsophilia) | an additional £8/ft |
| medium weight | an additional £18/ft |
| full effect | from an additional £30/ft |
floral Arches/pillars
These are bespoke items and vary greatly according to their height and size, content, structure and style.
Ahead of a consultation to discuss this item, please equip yourself with the following:
- an image of the kind of design you have in mind. This will help us to see the volume and density of look you are after.
- accurate dimensions for the space we need to fill, particularly if there is an existing arch on the building
- details of any existing fixings if we are using a building to secure an arch in place, and information about the surrounding ground (steps, uneven, etc.)
We have a number of arch frames for hire, which we can use to create the structure of your design. These can be viewed here. The prices below do not include the price of the frame hire.
In the table below we done our best to offer starting prices for these statement designs to give you an idea of cost, but please bear in mind that these are ball-park figures only. A floral arch is a high-end installation which takes lots of time to create and requires plenty of fresh materials, as well as a lot of prior planning and consideration. For this reason it will probably take up a large portion of your flower budget and it is essential that this cost is taken into account at the beginning of your planning process.
| Foliage only | Flower and foliage | |
| Moon-gate/hexagon frame with exposed frame and two focal decorated sections | from £600 | from £850 |
| Columns/broken arches | from £750 | from £1100 |
| Archway | from £950 | from £1400 |
| Full and fabulous archway, very flower-heavy | N/A | from £1800+ |
Suspended designs
Over the years we have created elevated floral installations on planks, ladders, chandeliers and other mechanics, both within buildings and also below erected canopies. We love making them and they can add a truly breath-taking 3rd-dimension to the look of your venue.
Clearly they also require a whole other level of planning, logistics and H&S considerations, so we have created a separate guide and pricelist for these designs. Click here if you wish to go there.
A FINAL NOTE ABOUT OUR DESIGNING ETHOS
Please note that we no longer use traditional flower foam due to its adverse impact on both human health and the environment. In addition, we avoid where possible including any single-use plastics within our work.
This means that the mechanics within our designs have been purpose-built, well thought-out, and are used over and over again. Larger designs will therefore contain reusable mechanics, for which we will charge a hire deposit and will need them returned to us post-event. Don't fret about this now... we will explain it all clearly on your paperwork.
Extra services:
Styling - We would be thrilled to complete the design for your tables and venue. In our experience, the final look is always more streamlined and considered when executed by a single supplier, and if we are already supplying your table flowers it makes sense for us to add the finishing touches such as candles and glassware. Along with our own extensive hire range we can also out-source additional props to ensure that the final look is seamless and placed perfectly on the day.
Movers and Shakers – Reusing flowers within your venue is a great way to make them stretch further. We can stay on site to relocate the florals from ceremony to reception.
Breakdown and recovery – What will happen the next day? If you have any large installations, multiple florals or a lot of hire items, you may require us to come back and pack it all away the next day. This is particularly handy if you will be busy entertaining family, rushing off on honeymoon, or if your venue has an early timeframe for the venue to be cleared.
All these optional extras are charged for at a per-person per-hour rate dependent on volume of work and will be individually quoted for accordingly.
Delivery – Most of our couples opt to have their flowers delivered by us. It is by far the safest way due to our lengthy experience of packing and moving floral designs of all shapes and sizes. We can arrange multiple drops and will supply a detailed timeline so that you know what will be arriving where and when.
Our deliveries are charged at £1.20/mile (including the return journey), and are calculated individually based on your location. They are also charged per vanload so - for larger events - multiple trips/vehicles may be required. If you would like a per-trip quote to your chosen venue, just ask.
